Qianshan Scenic Zone

Qianshan Scenic Zone, a national 5A level scenic zone, is located in the southeast of Anshan City, Liaoning Province. It is one of the first batch of national key scenic zones and a demonstrative national scenic zone of civilized tourism industry. On February 25, 2017, it upgraded to be a national 5A tourist attraction. On September 26, 2018, it won the title of “China natural oxygen bar” creation area in 2018.In December 2018, it won the title of “people’s favorite famous cultural and historical mountain”.

“Ten thousand pines and a hundred miles of billows, thousands of peaks create green shadows making up a lake of lotus”. Qianshan Mountain is composed of nearly one thousand lotus-like peaks with beautiful natural scenery. Although she is not as majestic as the Five Grand Mountains, she has the magnificent beauty of the thousand peaks. She is like an endless natural picture with a unique group of heroes, which is displayed on the land of Liaodong. “To count flowers up to the sky, and find nine hundred and ninety-nine lotus” this is Yao Yuanzhi’s masterpiece to Qianshan Mountain. Among the numerous peaks, the most peculiar one is the Qianshan Buddha. It is made up of the whole mountain, sitting in the middle of the thousand lotus mountains, adding a mysterious color to the thousand mountains. Xianrentai, named after the legend of Weicheng Xianhua crane’s return, is the highest peak of Qianshan Mountain. Mountain climbing, various peaks, unlimited scenery panoramic view: ancient pines towering in the wind and pouring in the waves, strange stones and phosphorous rings scattered all over the place, the pagoda surrounded by clouds and smoke, lake lights and mountain color contrast. Thousands of mountains have different sceneries in all seasons of the year: pear flowers are everywhere in the valley in spring, flowers are everywhere in the mountains; mountains are green and luxuriant in summer; red leaves are everywhere in autumn, setting clouds and flying rainbow are everywhere; snow waves are continuous in winter. Beautiful sceneries are always present, attracting tourists to linger.

Qianshan is the perfect unity of natural landscape and human landscape, and religious culture is the main body of Qianshan human landscape. “Hear the golden bell rings near the mountain, smell the incense of the temple in Taimiao temple”.There are more than 20 temples in Qianshan Mountain, just like shining gemstones, which are inlaid in peaks and valleys, making the ancient Qianshan Mountain more charming. Some of these ancient and magnificent temples are towering over dangerous peaks; some are surrounded by mountains; some are located on sunny slopes; some are hidden in the shadow of ancient pines and strange rocks. And natural scenery set off each other, integrated into a beautiful, elegant, quiet moving picture. As described in the poem by the Duke of Zhenguo, Aisin Gioro Gausai in the early Qing Dynasty, “Mountain rises in the middle of the sky, and incense smokes rings in the clear spring. The empty hall is clear and dewy, and the cicadas are quiet. You lead the spire peak to emerald, the pine contains the elephant to shake the smoke. The temple takes the peak as the screen and the loan as the display. ” In addition to temples, there are countless caves, towers, pavilions and steles, which are also important parts of cultural landscapes of Qianshan Mountains.Thousands of beautiful mountains have attracted celebrities and tourists from all ages since ancient times. In Qianshan, there are not only the relics of Li Shimin’s imperial travelling lodging, and Xueli barracks, but also the footprints and poems of Emperor Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty.Wang erlie, the famous Prince of Guandong, once studied in Longquan Temple, Qianshan Mountain, where still has his study room now. Many poems praising Qianshan are left by literati and calligraphers of all ages. There are more than 1600 poems in Ming, Qing and Republic of China.

The Maitreya Buddha in Qianshan Mountain is completely formed naturally without any trace of artificial carving. According to the identification of geological experts, the Buddha was formed in the ancient glacial period 4 million years ago. Its five senses, limbs and body shape were weathered by rocks.

The whole Buddha is composed of a mountain peak, 70 meters high, shoulder is 46 meters wide,  head is 9.9 meters high and 11.8 meters wide, and ears are 4.8 meters long. Facing to the west, it has a dignified body, clear facial features and well proportioned limbs. Between the two pine trees, it has a head with smooth top. The matching sign formed by dark natural moss is eyebrow and eye, with beads hidden in the eyebrow, which is bright and light. The position of the eyes is just right. If the moss is upward, it is like hair, and if downward, it is like a beard. We can’t help but exclaim that nature’s uncanny workmanship is extraordinary; the protruding stones below are the nose and mouth; the left five fingers are clear, naturally placed on the left knee, the right hand clenched fist, and pressed on the right knee. On the back of the right hand of the Buddha, there is a large ring with a diameter of about 3 meters, which is chiseled by someone, and the concave and convex parts are naturally formed when facing the sun from a distance. A halo of contrasting light and shade. Some people say that this halo is a “Eight Diagrams”, others say that it is a “Falun”. There are different opinions. A string of Buddha beads are naturally formed on the shoulder, back and chest. Facing the sun, people can see a round bead ring. In the middle of the abdomen, there is a 2-meter-long and 1.2-meter-wide Buddha navel, and two giant feet can be seen at the bottom of the Buddha. The reclining Buddha in China is not uncommon, and many can be found in Qianshan Scenic Area. However, the natural giant sitting Buddha is only one found in the world. On April 6, 1993, when the staff of Qianshan Scenic zone visited the scenic zone, they stumbled upon the Tiancheng Maitreya Buddha. In addition, the porcelain of Ming and Qing Dynasties and the ash of tree roots were unearthed here, as well as the man-made Buddha worship platform with a weathering degree of more than 1000 years. Zhao Puchu, the former president of the National Buddhist Association, believed that the birth of Qianshan Giant Buddha was a great blessing to the religious circles of China and even the world, and happily wrote “Qianshan Maitreya Giant Buddha”.In 1994, chaxi living Buddha in Tibet came to Qianshan Mountain to worship the Buddha. At that time, he was shocked and said, “this is a true Buddha, a treasure given to human beings by nature. He is not only like the Maitreya Buddha enshrined by the Tibetan people, but also like the Maitreya Buddha enshrined by the Han people. He will become more and more like it. I hope that every friend who comes here can worship at the foot of the Buddha.
