In 1996, the open bronze statue of Sakyamuni with more than 80 meters high was constructed there at the same time that Xiangfu Temple was renewed, in order to preserve historic sites and promote culture. The grand Buddha is named Lingshan Grand Buddha because it is located in Xiaolingshan Mountain named by Xuanzang, a Buddhist monk in Tang dynasty. This grand and solemn Buddha is one of the world largest and the greatest event in China’s Buddhist field in the past 100 years, and meanwhile it will also become one of the symbols of Wuxi, the Pearl of Taihu Lake. The bronze materials of the Buddha weights 700 tons, the whole area of bronze plates is more than 9,000 square meters like half a football field. Additionally, the Buddha can resist the attack of 14-level typhoon and 8-level earthquake because of high-tech use.

The Brahma Palace is built along the mountain, is a multi-functional super-large theater integrating tourism, conference, exhibition and cultural experience, and integrates elements of Chinese Buddhist grotto art and traditional Buddhist architecture. It is 150 meters wide and 180 meters deep, and its total area is up to 50 thousand square meters. The main construction is divided into two parts: southern area and northern area. The top of the five external towers are decorated according to the “Huata” in Dunhuang frescoes. There are tall pillars, long-span beams and columns, high-rise domes, and large-scale halls inside. Every space is apart and connected each other, which consist of hallway, corridor hall, tower hall, altar, the characteristic conference halls for the three major Buddhist languages (Chinese Buddhism, Tibet Buddhism and Southern Buddhism), Banquet hall for thousands of people, etc.

The Vatican altar is the main venue of the 2nd World Buddhist Forum. It has many functions, such as conference and performance, and can hold a large international conference with a capacity of 2,000 people. There the performance of “Ode to good luck in Lingshan” is held regularly every day, which use advanced multimedia technology in order to bring a new visual feast to the audience.
